Community Guidelines
Last updated: June 30, 2026
ScrapIt is a private space for personal memories — not a public social network. These guidelines exist to keep that space safe, respectful, and trustworthy for everyone who uses it. By using ScrapIt you agree to follow them.
1. Our commitment to safety
When you use ScrapIt, you are inviting people into something private and meaningful. We take that responsibility seriously. We are committed to:
- Giving you control over who sees your memories — sharing is always direct and intentional, never public
- Providing working tools to report, remove, and block — accessible inside the app
- Acting on reports of objectionable content within 24 hours — by reviewing the report, removing the violating content, and ejecting the user responsible
- Cooperating with law enforcement where required by law to protect users from serious harm
Our Terms of Service give the full legal framework; these Community Guidelines describe the expected behavior in plain language.
2. Zero-tolerance violations
The following content and behaviors result in immediate, permanent account termination with no warning. There are no second chances for these violations:
- Sexual content involving minors. Any content that sexually exploits or depicts minors is absolutely prohibited. We report all such content to the appropriate authorities and law enforcement as required by law, and we terminate the account immediately.
- Non-consensual imagery. Sharing or uploading private images or videos of any person without their explicit consent is never permitted.
- Content that exploits or endangers anyone, including content that facilitates human trafficking, child exploitation, or any form of grooming.
- Credible threats of violence directed at any identifiable person or group.
- Illegal content of any kind, including content that promotes, depicts, or facilitates illegal activity in a way that causes real-world harm.
If you encounter any of the above, use the in-app report function immediately or email us directly at [email protected].
3. What's not allowed
In addition to the zero-tolerance violations above, the following are prohibited and may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent termination depending on severity and context:
- Sharing someone's private content without permission. Uploading or forwarding photos, videos, or other private content belonging to someone else without their knowledge and consent.
- Harassment and bullying. Using ScrapIt to harass, threaten, intimidate, or persistently target another person.
- Hate content. Content that degrades or dehumanizes people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or similar characteristics.
- Copyright infringement. Uploading content that infringes a third party's copyright or other intellectual property rights without authorization.
- Impersonation. Pretending to be another person, brand, or entity within the app in a way that is deceptive or misleading.
- Circumventing safety systems. Attempting to bypass, disable, or work around ScrapIt's reporting, blocking, access-control, or authentication systems.
- Spam and unsolicited content. Using sharing features to send unwanted, repetitive, or promotional content to users who haven't asked for it.
4. Responsible sharing
ScrapIt lets you share memories with specific people you choose. With that comes responsibility:
- Only share photos and memories of other people if you have a good-faith reason to believe they would be comfortable with you sharing them
- Be thoughtful about sharing photos of children — including children in your own family — especially when sharing with people outside your immediate circle
- If someone asks you to remove a memory you've shared that includes them, respect that request
- Remember that when you share a memory, the recipient gets their own copy — once shared, you cannot retrieve it from their account (but they can remove it from their view, and you can block them from receiving future shares)
5. How to report content or a user
If you see something in ScrapIt that you believe violates these guidelines or our Terms of Service, please report it. Reporting is confidential — the person you report will not be notified.
In-app reporting
Use the report option directly in the app on the memory, photo, or user profile that concerns you. Include as much detail as you're comfortable sharing so we can investigate effectively.
Email reporting
For anything urgent, or if you prefer to reach a person directly, email us at [email protected]. Include:
- A description of what you saw and why it concerned you
- The username of the person whose content you are reporting, if known
- Any other context that would help us investigate
What happens after you report
We review every report. For reports of objectionable content, we commit to acting within 24 hours. See Section 7 below for a full description of our response process.
6. Removing a shared memory from your view
You can remove any memory that someone has shared with you from your own account at any time — no report required. Removing a shared memory from your view deletes your copy; it does not affect the original in the sharer's account.
This is a fast, no-questions-asked way to get something out of your space if you don't want to see it, without necessarily triggering a formal report.
7. Blocking a user
You can block any other ScrapIt user at any time. Blocking:
- Prevents that user from sharing any further content with you
- Removes them from any contexts where the two of you might interact
- Is immediate and does not notify the blocked user
To block someone, open their profile or a memory they have shared with you and choose the block option in the app. You can unblock someone at any time from your settings if you change your mind.
Blocking is available for all 1:1 sharing interactions in the app and is not conditional on submitting a report.
8. What happens after a report
Here is what our review and response process looks like:
- Receipt: We receive your report (in-app or by email) and it enters our review queue.
- Review: A member of our team reviews the report and the reported content. For reports of objectionable content, this happens within 24 hours.
- Action: Depending on what we find, we may:
- Remove the reported content
- Limit or disable sharing for the reported account
- Suspend the reported account temporarily
- Permanently terminate the reported account (for zero-tolerance violations or serious repeated offenses)
- Report the content to law enforcement or the appropriate authorities where required by law
- Take no action if we determine no violation occurred
- Follow-up: We may follow up with you to let you know the outcome of your report, where we are able to do so without violating the privacy of the reported user.
We aim to respond thoughtfully and proportionately — matching the severity of the response to the severity of the violation — while prioritizing the protection of users who have been harmed.
9. Account suspension and ejection
We may suspend or permanently terminate a ScrapIt account at any time if we determine the account has violated these guidelines or our Terms of Service.
- For zero-tolerance violations (Section 2): termination is immediate, permanent, and without warning.
- For other violations: we may issue a warning, temporarily suspend the account, or permanently terminate it depending on the severity, pattern of behavior, and context. We generally provide notice for first-time non-severe violations, at our discretion.
- Terminated users are not permitted to create new ScrapIt accounts. Circumventing a termination by creating a new account is itself a violation.
